The Board of Studies has published materials that provide practical advice about authentic involvement of Aboriginal community members in school curriculum development. These publications provide a framework for the development of curriculum-based projects through schools working in partnership with local Aboriginal communities.

Consultation with Aboriginal communities is essential in the development of meaningful Aboriginal perspectives and studies across the curriculum.
An active relationship between schools and their local Aboriginal community will enhance the learning experience of students, and promote reconciliation through better understanding.

The journey's just begun: Enhancing schools' capacity to partner Aboriginal communities to improve student learning - Facilitator handbook and DVD

This facilitator handbook and DVD package follows the journeys of four communities and schools (Broulee Public School, St Joseph's Primary School Walgett, Gilgandra Public School and Gilgandra High School) working together to develop locally relevant and culturally appropriate curriculum. The package is a professional learning tool for school staff and community members and leads to the development of a local Project Action Plan that is structured, relevant to school and community needs, achievable and collaborative.
