Having rights often entails responsibilities. To achieve a happy and healthy family life, all family members should be people who care about and respect others, both at home and in the community. Whatever the family structure, this can happen only if each member accepts and carries out his or her responsibilities within the family.
Complete the table below by suggesting responsibilities that children have as a result of these rights. An example has been done for you.
| Broad categories of children’s rights | Responsibilities of children |
|---|---|
| Right to an identity | |
| Right to a family | |
| Rights to express oneself and have access to information | |
| Right to a safe and healthy life | To respect their own bodies and to keep themselves safe and respect others |
| Right to special protection in times of war | |
| Right to an education | |
| Right to special care for the disabled | |
| Right to protection from discrimination | |
| Right to protection against abuse | |
| Right to protection from harmful work | |
| Right to special treatment if arrested |
