As marks have not been allocated to the questions, the sample answers are given as a guide only. In the HSC Examination, there will be a mark next to each question to indicate the scope and depth required in the response.
Question 1
Lily is tall, slim and good looking. She has brown hair and blue-grey smiling eyes.
Question 2
Danian’s mother rejects Lily because of her Australian origin. She wants Danian to have a Chinese girl friend instead. His father accepts Lily as long as she is a nice girl. He doesn’t mind that she is not Chinese.
Question 3
The writer takes his father’s side because he thinks they are as Australian as Lily, having been brought up in Australia. Lily is Danian’s girlfriend and it is up to Danian to decide whom he likes, not his parents.
