As marks have not been allocated to the questions, the sample answers are given as a guide only. In the HSC Examination, there will be a mark next to each question to indicate the scope and depth required in the response.
Question 1
Chinatowns are built because Chinese migrants miss their culture so much that they want to build Chinatowns to remember the way of life in China. They want their children to remember Chinese culture. They also want non-Chinese people to know about Chinese culture.
Question 2
Someone might visit Sydney’s Chinatown to see Chinese style buildings, go to restaurants serving the food of different Chinese provinces and visit shops selling wares from China such as herbal medicine, Chinese paintings, vases, household wares, clothes, food etc.
