This term refers to all aspects of health
and conditioning related to the dancer. Body maintenance

Clarity of line |
Clarity in dance performance refers to the clean placement of shapes and technique. The line of the shape is finished. The shape looks controlled and it appears to be performed effortlessly. |

Consistency |
Consistency means that the performance of technique and performance quality maintains their level throughout the dance. Lack of consistency is seen as differences in the ability to control skills or differences in the level of focus or projection. |

Core performance
interpretation |
Interpretation of the core performance dance refers to the link between the performance of dance technique and performance quality in the dance. It is also the dancer’s personalisation of the choreography in the dance. |

Safe dance practice |
Safe dance practice can be defined as
those principles and practices that have been developed with the purpose of
increasing knowledge of dance, decreasing injury, and increasing the
dancer’s life in performance. |

Generation of movement |
This term refers to the process of developing movement ideas from a stimulus and intent. This process involves the abstraction of movement from literal to more symbolic and the improvisation of movement to develop motif(s). |

Organisation of movement |
This term refers to the process of developing phrases of movement which revolve around manipulating the motif to develop the phrases. |

Organisation of the
dance |
This is the structuring aspect of the dance. It refers to the linking of phrases and sections, which achieves a unified whole. It also refers to the formal structuring of the dance. |

Genre |
Genre is a category or style of dance.
Different genre of dance are characterised by particular movements or ways of
moving. |
|
Sociocultural context |
Refers to the direct relationship between
dance works and the era, history, culture or society within which the works
originate. |
|
Subject matter |
Subject matter can be a storyline, theme,
or idea that describes the dance. |
