Generating movement for 2 or 3 dancers
Major composition requires an understanding and application of the elements of dance and devices to structure improvisations to suit your concept and intent.
You need to be motivated to create movement based on the ideas drawn from exploring a stimulus.
You also need to be able to develop movement through the process of exploring, reflecting, evaluating and selecting appropriate material from your explorations that best portray your concept/intent.
Every choice you make must relate to the fact that you have two or three dancers to communicate your intent.
The marking guidelines for major study
composition draw attention to the standard of achievement in relation to the
areas of study. High order works:
- sustain a skilled manipulation of the elements of dance and the generation of personalised movements in relation to a clearly established intent
- integrate form, concept and intent and the choice of the number of dancers
