Process diary
The process diary is used for internal assessment and to support practical examinations.
For students, process diaries provide a
means of:
- developing and practising skills in observing, recalling and recording information
- using dance terminology in a meaningful and relevant way
- expressing personal ideas and opinions
- evaluating their own work through personal reflection and critical analysis
- maintaining a record of their learning, knowledge, understanding and dance experiences.
In Major Study Composition, the process diary could also include:
- considerations arising from developing choreography for two or three dancers
- ideas relating to costumes or props and their relationship to the intent of the work.
Information in the process diary can be used to support understanding of the dance and work in core composition.
Using a process diary in Major Study Composition
Recording the process of composition
assists the presentation for the practical examination and viva voce
response.
Developing a process diary
A proforma or scaffold for a process
diary can be used as a basis for documenting information, research, analysis,
observation and reflections.
Work samples
Work samples can be based on the use of
a process diary, including examples of journal entries and answers to critical
questions.
