Sample answer:
The family had planned to spend one month in the Pyrenees to do some mountain walks. They are going with their friends, the Martin family, and have already rented a big country house. His father won’t be very pleased as he likes the family to spend their holiday together.
(c) Explain how they reach a compromise. (3 marks)

Sample answer:
The son thinks it is too good an opportunity to miss. He has saved his pocket money and has earnt enough from working three afternoons a week tutoring Jamel to be able to afford to go. The mother feels his dad won’t be happy because he likes taking holidays with the family. So the son suggests he will go for a fortnight only and his mum will support his request when he asks his father.
