Task 1 (4 marks)
Comment on Olivia's friend's new relationship.
- She’s not very happy, she’s having a
difficult time
- Her new boyfriend is great - 18, handsome and in Yr 12
at the same high school (J'ai rencontré Pascal, un
garçon génial. Il a dix-huit ans et il est beau
et il est en terminale dans le même lycée que
moi )
- Unfortunately Pascal he is the jealous type ( tu ne peux pas t'imaginer à
quel point il peut être jaloux)
- She feels like she’s in prison when at school
(je me sens comme en prison quand je
suis au lycée)
- She can’t talk to anyone else ( Je n'ai pas le droit de discuter
avec quelqu'un d'autre que lui)
- He sulks if she talks to other friends, (Si un copain ou une copine vient me
parler, il me fait la tête toute la
journée).
- He doesn’t like her to go out with her friends,
even at the week-end (Même le week-end, il n'aime
pas que je sorte avec mes copines)
- She has spoken to him about it but nothing has changed (Je lui ai parlé de son excès de jalousie mais rien à faire. Il est toujours aussi jaloux et aussi possessif)
Task 2 (5 marks)
In this interview, Marcel, Jacqueline and Sebastien are talking about the role of luck during exam times. How do their attitudes differ?
Marcel
He doesn't really believe in luck. He usually studies
a lot and does a lot of serious revision work. He never goes
to bed late the night before an exam.(1 mark)
Je n'y crois pas tellement à la
chance. En principe, j'étudie énormément
et je fais beaucoup de révision sérieuse. Et puis,
je ne me couche jamais tard la veille d'un
examen.
Jacqueline
She believes in luck but does not think it works all the
time. She kisses (gives a little kiss to) her good luck charm
in the hope that it will bring her luck. (1 mark)
Moi, avant de passer un examen,
j'embrasse mon médaillon, je fais une bise à ce
petit coeur que vous voyez là à mon cou, en
espérant que ça me porte bonheur.
Sebastien
He believes that number 7 is a lucky number.
Moi, vous savez, je crois vraiment que le
numéro 7 est un chiffre porte-bonheur.
He goes to bed at exactly 12pm (midnight) every night
during the week before the start of the exams and he wakes up
at 7 o'clock every morning,in order to get a 7 hour
sleep.
Tous les soirs de la semaine qui
précède mon premier examen, je me couche exactement
à minuit pour pouvoir dormir sept heures par nuit. Je me
réveille donc tous les matins à sept
heures.
He goes over (revises) all the page 7 of his textbooks on
the eve of (the night before) an exam.
La veille d'un examen je révise
toutes les pages 7 de mes manuels.
He feels it's all a little crazy but it helps him keep
his nerve.
Je sais c'est un peu dingue mais
ça m'aide à ne pas m'everver (3
marks)
Task 3 (5 marks)
Comment on Marie-Ange's reactions to moving to La Réunion
- It was hard for her to leave her friends but now
returns to France each September to see them (on y retourne en septembre pour voir
la famille).
- Also family and friends come to visit (ils sont venus me rendre visite à
Saint-Paul au moins trois fois). She was
excited and nervous at the same time (mon état émotionel
...très excité et un peu anxieux) and
really looked forward to discovering the country (vers ce nouveau monde)
- She wanted to leave straight away (je voulais partir tout de
suite)
- But take everything with her, most of all her friends
(surtout mes amis)
- She’s adventurous by nature (Moi, qui suis assez aventurière
de nature..) and really wanted to discover the
country (j'avais très envie de
découvrir ce pays...)
- She found the idea of living on a volcano appealing (L'idée de vivre sur un volcan me semblait hallucinante).
