Item 1	Il fumo fa male alla salute
1.	Explain the change in current anti-smoking campaigns. 4 marks
	The need for change has been prompted by the fact that there is an increase in Italian women smoking even though there are less men smoking. Also the campaigns need to target young people and the possible need to raise the legal age of buying cigarettes from 16 to 18 as it is in Australia.

A journalist is speaking with the Minister for the Environment about a new legislation "Il decreto Ronchi" and the issue of recycling.

1.	Explain the need for the new legislation. 4 marks
	The environment is suffering due to pollution, such as throw away packaging where there is not enough recycling and reusing. The responsibility for the packaging should be with the producers and distributors of the goods. The large population also affects the environment and the problem increases in the summer with the large numbers of tourists.



Item 2	La caccia. Sì o no? Un dibattito
1.	Explain the woman's reaction to the man's view of hunting. 4 marks
	She doesn't see hunting as a sport or as an ancient tradition tied to man's survival as in today's world it is simply a leisure activity. She is angry at the man's suggestion that it is a way of getting close to nature. She feels that animals can be observed in their environment without being killed, even if hunters don't kill indiscriminately due to their expertise in animal recognition. Her anger and frustration can be observed by her tone of voice, use of "uffa" and the man's response in an apologetic tone with the use of "Chiedo scusa."
