Part A (informative, descriptive)

Task 1

Write a report for your Japanese sister school's newspaper about the sorts of career opportunities available for Japanese language students graduating from high school in Australia. You might include such careers as tourism, teaching, trade and hospitality.

Task 2

Create a questionnaire to find out the views and opinions of your classmates about part-time work for high school students. Include your own answers to the questions. Your answers should be as comprehensive as possible.

Task 3

Write a description of a day at work in your part-time job. It may be your real job or it may be an imaginary one.

Part B (reflective, persuasive, evaluative)

Task 1

You have started a small business with your friend.

Write a promotional article about the services your business offers in your local Japanese newspaper. Your business could be an English conversation service, a baby sitting service, a handy man service, a computer support service, a translation service, a home help service or any other type of business.

Task 2

Write a speech for your Japanese class discussing the advantages and disadvantages of having a part-time job while you are in high school.
