Part B (reflective, persuasive, evaluative)

Task 1

You have recently returned from a school trip to Japan.

Write a speech for your class saying what you found to be the most interesting aspect or aspects of Japan. You may write about a place that you visited, a custom or tradition or any other aspect of Japan.

Task 2

A friend of yours is planning a trip to Japan. As he is nervous about not being able to speak Japanese and not knowing anything about Japanese culture, you have decided to ask your Japanese penfriend to look after him.

Write a letter to your Japanese friend asking if he can help look after your Australian friend, and explain some of the concerns your friend has about language and culture. You might suggest some things which would be of interest to your Australian friend, and ways he could be made to feel at ease. Express your gratitude to your Japanese friend for looking after the visitor.
