How does the body respond to aerobic training?

The basis of aerobic training

Aerobic training is aimed at improving the athlete's ability to use oxygen. It does this by improving the efficiency of the cardiovascular system to deliver oxygen to, and to remove waste from, the working muscles.

Prescreening

Before developing a training program for an individual, it is important to assess the overall health of the individual. This includes examining family history, injuries, health problems, age and current exercise patterns. This is called prescreening.
