THHGCS01B Develop and update local knowledge
Introduction
This unit deals with the skills and knowledge required to effectively and quickly respond to general customer information requests in a range of tourism enterprises.
On completion of this module, students should understand how to source, share and store current information about a local region and the importance of maintaining a wide general knowledge of their area.
Because tourism information is always changing (eg hotel names and prices) this module will assist students to understand where and how to access current information rather than learning and remembering a range of facts about a destination.

Critical aspects of assessment
- ability to source accurate and current information about the local area
- general knowledge of the local area sufficient to answer common and frequently asked questions relevant to a specific job role
